# Price estimates

> See what a conversion will cost or pay out before creating it.

Use an estimate to show your user a price before they commit. An estimate uses
the same rate, fees and limits as a real conversion, but creates nothing: no
payment address, no record and no expiry clock.

## Get an estimate

`GET /v1/minting/offramp/estimate`

Send **either** `gmd_amount` **or** `pay_amount`.

<ParamField query="gmd_amount" type="number">
  The dalasi you want to receive. Returns how much stablecoin to send.
</ParamField>

<ParamField query="pay_amount" type="number">
  The stablecoin amount you'll send, in USD. Returns the dalasi you'll receive.
</ParamField>

<ParamField query="pay_currency" type="string" default="USDT">

</ParamField>

<ParamField query="network" type="string" default="TRC20">

| Field | What it means |
| - | - |
| `gmd_amount` | Dalasi received. |
| `pay_amount` | Stablecoin to send, fees included. |
| `gmd_rate` | Dalasi per US dollar before the fee. |
| `effective_rate` | Dalasi per US dollar after the fee (`gmd_amount ÷ pay_amount`). Use this when comparing prices. |
| `usd_amount` | The dollar value converted, without the fee. |
| `fee` | Modem Pay's fee, in USD, including any network fee. |
| `network_fee_usd` | The flat network fee for this network (\$1.50 on Tron, none on Arc). Already part of `fee`. |
| `min_amount_usd` | The smallest amount you can send on this network. |
| `network_fee_estimate` | Roughly what the payer's wallet charges to send on this network. Paid by the payer, not deducted by us. |
| `expires_at` | How long to treat the price as fresh (5 minutes). |

<Note>
  An estimate doesn't hold the price. Rates move, so the conversion you create
  afterwards can differ slightly. The amounts in the conversion response are
  the ones that count.
</Note>

## Full quote

`POST /v1/minting/offramp/quote` takes exactly the same body as
[creating a conversion](/documentation/stablecoins/convert-to-dalasi#create-a-conversion),
including `destination`, `payout_method` and `markup_config`, and returns the
full conversion object without creating it. Use it to check a reseller markup
or a mobile money payout before going live.

```bash cURL theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.modempay.com/v1/minting/offramp/quote \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "pay_amount": 100,
    "pay_currency": "USDC",
    "network": "ARC",
    "markup_config": { "type": "percentage", "value": 2 }
  }'
```
